What to Expect: Mindful Healing Orange County

Making Your Appointment

One can set up an appointment through Devan Olfman, the office manager for The Mindful Healing Center, who can be reached at 949-612-3955. The wait time for an appointment is usually anywhere from 1-3 weeks, although Dr. Vasa will do her best to accommodate patient’s needs in terms of urgency of appointment requests.

The initial evaluation is 75 to 90 minutes in duration. The purpose of the initial evaluation is to obtain an in depth history, generate an initial diagnostic impression, and determine a treatment plan. After the initial evaluation, Dr. Vasa will always collaborate with any other therapists or physicians who are involved in the patient’s care. They may also refer you for a medical evaluation, or to check bloodwork and urine after the initial evaluation.

Medication Management and Psychotherapy

Subsequent medication management appointments occur at a frequency of anywhere from weekly to monthly, and are 25 minutes in duration. Psychotherapy appointments occur one to two times per week, and are 50 minutes in duration. Dr. Vasa  also provides  outpatient detoxification services when medically appropriate and clinically safe.

When clinically indicated and beneficial, Dr. Vasa  will incorporate drug and alcohol testing into the treatment plan, which will be carried out during appointments in the office. Dr. Vasa is also certified and approved buprenorphine providers for inductions, maintenance and tapers for opioid use disorders. Our practice is also conducive and set up to store and administer (Vivitrol) naltrexone injections for opioid and alcohol use disorders.

The very nature of psychiatric evaluation and treatment may involve raising sensitive or painful issues. Please do not hesitate to express any discomfort or concerns you may be experiencing during your appointment with your clinician.

Hours of Service

Dr. Vasa  provides a concierge level of service to their patients. As a result, Dr. Vasa  will do her best to accommodate requests for evening or other non-business hour appointments. They are available 9-5 Monday through Friday for routine issues, and 24 hours per day, 7 days per week for any emergent issues for their existing patients. If Dr. Vasa is away from the office for an extended period of time, she will always leave the name and number of a covering psychiatrist on their outgoing voicemails. For non-urgent matters, Dr. Vasa and Devan are all available via email as well.

All sessions with Dr. Vasa  occur on a private, one-on-one basis, unless otherwise discussed. Dr. Vasa  always maintains strict patient confidentiality, with the exception of a limited number of emergency circumstances.

Dr. Vasa  is not a provider for any insurance panels and are considered “out of network” providers for all PPOs. All patients may request a superbill that can be submitted to insurance companies for direct reimbursement. Most patients are able to have anywhere from 50-70% of professional fees subsequently reimbursed to them by their insurance company. Dr. Vasa has chosen not to accept insurance in order to be able to tailor treatment to each patient’s needs, rather than by what insurance providers allow.
